For the whole story see my post in General Pricing/Buying...

Basically, I am buying a new tractor to replace one we were using for the past few years that has gone away with it's owner. After getting the cold shoulder & attitude at the other colors, I stopped quite accidently at the local MF dealer and was greeted with much enthusiasm and helpfulness by the casual fellow at the Hopkinton Fair here in New Hampshire. The guy did a great job, listening to the list of other models I had looked at and showing me the MF model that would fit the bill. I had read here that the MF/AGCO types were too pricey etc., but here is the deal:

MF 1433s, "Hardy" FEL (a heavy duty lookin' beast with large hydraulics/hoses etc, much beefier than the MF 1466, but I'm not familiar with the brand. it is color matched OEM looking...) Tiller 53", R4's, Bale Spear, 72" HD Bucket, 670 York Rake, 1005 Rotary Cutter, free delivery, free pickup/dropoff for all service.
Around $22000 + change (still finalizing)

The service & dealer attitude made it all seem so nice. I mentioned the backhoe attachment and he offered half price excavator rental for life with free pickup/dropoff!! (he said the 7 grand for a BH would buy alot of other stuff and for the small amount of work we do of that nature I think he is correct).

I have read alot here about the dealer being the most important part of your decision, and after trying this tractor I can see me saving several thousand dollars over the other guys, and still getting a pretty nice tractor.

Comments????

Thanks,

What a tractor!!! I came very close to buying and I still kick myself sometimes for not saving a little bit longer to get the 1433v. I am still very happy with my JD 790 it fits my property very well, the 1433v was a little on the big side for what I own.

When I was shopping around I stopped in on our local MF dealer and fell in love when I saw the 1433v it seemed to cover all the bases that I was looking for. Nice machine!

For some strange reasion I can't bring myself to delete about 22 pic's on my puter that I took of it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That's a nice looking piece. Can't go wrong with an MF.

If you would like another option, this is my mahindra 2810 HST. I think it's a second cousin on the MF's mother's side.

Whichever, as long as it's RED!

You guys are killin' me! What a great place to hang out and learn, not to mention a few laughs! Love the pics, guys, and I think it is entirely possible that the Mahindra is related /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

On a serious note, I have visited the dealer again today and asked more questions (different guy, same great attitude). I wondered about the Hardy FEL and why he wants me to get that instead of the MF1466. His answer is that he feels that since I am an actual farmin' grunt instead of a Doctor/Lawyer/CEO /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I would want a bit more "meat" on the bone instead of the MF which, after research on my part isn't quite as nice as the competition's FEL's. I thought it was interesting just to hear a dealer actually say that! Prob'ly won't
have to worry about resale, and the Hardy stuff (from Canada) has recently been updated and has cool specs, very competitive and RUGGED. I am certainly not a brand snob (as you can tell) so whatever works is good by me. The tiller is a Woods, but they have an MF if I want, but again, more bang with the Woods...

SOOOO, I'm still sold on the MF, mostly 'cos the dealer is so good, and so is the price/service plan. Any of these tractors would be just fine, but Red got my attention...Thinking Tuesday's 'sposed to be nice...

Whiskey you are banished from the Royal Order of 790 Owners you blaspheemer!

I cast ye' out!

I am hurt.......you were a mentor to me with your "happy 790 owner" photos. They got me through the hard times when I was awaiting delivery of my very own 790.

Lies! All lies!

I know the dealer you speak of, men of thier word! very down to earth, been in weare for 40 years. when i bought my tractor they said if and i mean if it broke and had to be in the shop for more than a week they would drop off a loaner to cut grass or move snow. i can't say what more could one ask for from any dealer. i know people who have dealt with them for years and nothing bad to say. i realy like my massey ,nice tractor, kubota was ok but service ****ed. think hard and long about the dealer no matter what color tractor you like. I think you'll be hard pressed to beat the people you speak of.

Hey, I thought you guys were a bunch of friendly, non-competitive pals that never pick on the poor fool who wants the red tractor????

Oh, for shame, I'm wounded, but just couldn't bring myself to deal with that complete bonehead at the "I am mightier than thou" JD dealer....Not to mention the other guy (Orange)...

I will love my Tractor, I will wash it and care for it and teach it not to pick on the little Green tractors, even if they have illusions of grandeur.... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Just kidding, they were all beauteous....

peace
