If you are willing to go used and have a Massey Ferguson dealer close by I would like to recomend a MF 492. I have on 06 model 4x4,open station that I use to farm just under 200 acres. It has all the power I need for tillage, hay and general farm work,100 hp Perkins engine,12 speed trans, dual remotes, about 4000lb lift at 24in on 3pt hitch. It is very fuel efficient I have yet to use over 2 1/2 gl of fuel an hour, and that was using a 9ft,24in blade offset disc at max angle and depth. I have had no problems with tractor except breaking old used equipment, it is verry underrated by the mfg,I have a Oliver 1855 to compare it to on the same equipment. scrapironford

Get ahold of a copy of "Michigan Farm Trader". Its a newsprint rag with ads from dealers in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. There are hundreds of tractors for sale there in pictures to give you an idea of what is available for what money. You can subscribe to it for free. Might take a month for your copy to arrive, though.

I did all you are thinking of doing with a JD4020 (2wd), then a 4430 (front assist). These tractors are still out there for 1/2 to 1/3 the money you are talking. Save some for the attachments.

I am looking to puchase a tractor in the next three months.
My budget is $25,000 exactley (not a dollar more)

Here are my requirements:
I would like 80-110 HP
need 4 wheel
prefer a front loader but not a needed.

Enclosed cab is a luxury that I dont need but would accept.

Could you please give some opinions of Brand and models you would suggest or what you suggest not for me.

I really like Kubota (actually Deere is my favorite however may be out of my league) for the price but have no clue about performance.

Also, how many hours on average is a typical life span of a tractor?
Thanks in advance

You normally don't see FELs on 80-100hp tractors which are in the ag class. You see a lot of them with cabs.

Kubota's are excellent machines. My first tractor was a 2005 Kubota B7510HST (21 hp engine, 17 hp pt, 4WD, power steering, hydrostatic tranny) and my neighbor has a 2008 Kubota L4400 (44 hp engine, shuttle shift, 4WD). To fit in your $25K limit and 80-100 hp 4WD, you'd be looking at a 1996 or earlier Kubota M89xx or M95xx series tractor (used prices at a dealer). You might do better at an auction or with a private sale.

As for JD, a 1996 JD 6400 (85 hp pto) or 6500 4WD (95 hp pto) is in your price range.
