Does anyone know and could offer the correct procedure for how to adjust the mechanical lift for the maximum lift on my 54C MMM? I have a 2305 with the adjustment arm that goes to the rear three-point and uses the one of the lower arms on the three-point to raise the mower deck.

Stuart,

Deere didn't build much lift height into these machines. Are you trying to get more clearance for say loader work, or are you just trying to cut the lawn higher?

I was trying to raise the MMM some more to gain the 1/4 inch adjustments and to get the wheels from touching while in transport. Before adjusting the linkage the MMM raised maybe an inch. I then adjusted it and it raised about 4 inchs. Then I tried to raise it even a bit more and I overadjusted it and it bent the adjustment linkage all up when I tried it. What I am going to do is replace the parts I messed up and then remove the mmm and raise the three point all the way up without the linkage attached and then I will attach the linkage and adjust it with the three point still in the raised position.

Stuart,

That is the job of your dealer; he should have adjusted that before delivery. I would point that out to him; if he doesn't at least make some/all concession on the repairs, I would be upset.

There are frame-mounted strike plates that will stop the mower (and what your three-point pressed the mower deck against in order to bend the adjustment rod). Ideally, you want the rod length set to raise the mower deck up with slight (1/4 inch) clearance between the strike plates and the mower deck when the 3pt hitch is completely raised.

I'm pretty sure this is covered in the setup instructions in the mower deck manual, which you should have received with your tractor.

The deck on my 2210 raised to about an inch below the strike plates as delivered. I shortened up the rod in small increments until the deck just touched the strike plates and then backed off a bit. That was three years ago and it has worked fine ever since.

I've also adjusted mine close to the striker plates. Iy will occassionally bang against the plates when running at high speed with the deck up on rough ground. I find that there is just not much clearance to do anything other than mowing with the deck on, and I almost always take it off when not mowing.
R&R for transportation will be a big hassle. If you can load/unload and transport it with just the wheels touching and not damaging anything, I wouldn't worry about it.

RV,

How do you like that KK tiller?

I was quoted $1200.00 for one which is a lot cheaper than the Deere.

It seems fine to me. I have done quite a bit of tilling and no problems. It is definitely less expensive than the Deere tiller, but I have not tried any others so it's hard for me to say whether it's as good or not.
I have been using it to till areas I trenched so I can plant new grass. I make 3 passes with the tiller and then smooth it over with the loader and it's ready to go.

mine was not correctly adjusted at delivery either. and when I bent my rod the dealer replaced it for free. The dealer also admitted to bending a LOT of rods when the 2210 first came out.

I purchased $100 worth of parts so the manual lift would be correct and then I added the independent lift after all. I then adjusted the deck lift myself and it is correct and working fine now but I now have many extra parts I will never use. Starting at the rear of the tractor by the left three point arm I have the bell crank that rests on the three point arm that lifts the mower deck, the two yokes that go on the adjustment rod, the long adjustment rod, a three point pivot pin and the spreader pin for the three point required when using the manual lift all extra. If anyone needs this stuff email me shende@adelphia.net.
