Mahindra 1635
I have a Mahindra 1635 and the front/back joystick cable is sticking when returning to center from backwards... if that makes sense. When I pull the stick back towards me to raise the loader up, when I let go it does not return to center all the way and will continue raising on its own and will do it when you don't realize it. It has been a safety hazard for a while because whatever is on the loader will be up in the air if you're not paying absolute 100% attention to it. It will especially do it on its own if you rev the engine up, with you barely even having to touch the stick. It ONLY does it going from backwards to center. Front to center, side to side, it doesn't do it.

I JUST put a new control cable on it today thinking that was the problem, nope. Adjusted the cable every way possible and it still does it. Lubricated the cables. There is a troubleshooting section in my manual, but I really don't understand half of what it is saying. It talks about a loader valve spool and I don't know what that is. And replacing a centering spring but doesn't tell me where it is/how to find it. The last suggestion talks about end caps of valve are not centered and tells you how to "fix" it. So I did that and still did not fix it.

I attached photos of the troubleshooting procedures in my manual, and also a parts diagram to help paint a picture of what I'm looking at on my tractor. The two plunger looking things at the end of the block highlighted in red are what is pictured in the manual. I really just don't know what to look for/try anymore and I really cant afford to take it to the local dealer and pay an arm and a leg for them to fix this. I have a hard time believing its the whole hydraulic valve/block because if so I feel like I would be experiencing problems with the entire hydraulic system and not just this one particular issue.

If anybody has any suggestions, ideas, or if somebody wants to translate the manual for me I would appreciate anything at this point.

I don't have your exact model, but I've experienced a similar (not exact) issue as you. On the drawing the red valve body shows 2 round cylinders on the rear of the valve block. These are spring loaded for the valves. I assume you haven't lost one of the round cylinder housings (I did and it caused the same problem).

Have you removed the round housings and inspected the internal workings of them? If not, CAREFULLY loosen one at a time (keeping it from popping out and losing the innards). It's possible you have an obstruction or broken spring. But I'm (somewhat) speculating.

One other thought, have you looked under the hood on the joystick housing itself? If it's spring operated, it could be the problem too.

Hopefully one of the other guys on here that are more attuned to hydraulics than I am, will chime in.

I just went outside and took the cable back apart and took videos of what its doing. I also took videos of what my valve caps look like if you can confirm thats what yours did because it does look like it is missing some kind of cover compared to the other one. I cant post videos on this website, do you mind if I send them to your email?

I am also extremely paranoid of taking those cylinders off if they are holding in springs, balls etc under pressure. My luck I would take them apart and everything fly out and then I really wouldn't be able to move the loader. If that ends up being the problem I guess it will just have to do what its doing until it breaks completely.

I lost the cover (and innards) on one of my valves on the valve body. Went to the dealer and they don't sell the internal parts. Wanted to sell me an entire valve body for $900+. Instead I bought a new valve body from Surplus Center for a couple hundred. Works just as good as the OEM.

could you send me a part number for that?

Your tractor will have a different valve body than mine. Surplus Center website has pics of all the different valve bodies. Just match one up to yours, and confirm the GPM flow rate is comparable. I think if you called them, they would try to help you. They did for me.
