I am looking to buy a subsoiler with particular attributes that I haven't seen in commercial products.

- replaceable point so I can put a furrowing shovel on the bottom to make shallow ditches.
- shear pin on the shank so it will swing back if it hits an immovable object.

A neighbor has a subsoiler with a shear pin and that proved very useful in my rocky soil. Unfortunately my neighbor's unit was fabbed by a local tractor dealer many years ago, and the salesman there now denies they ever made anything like that. He wants to sell me some Rankin unit that doesn't look or work the same.

I have found two manufacturers that have subsoiler/middle buster combination tools that sort of look like they would work,

Cimarron Middlebuster, Subsoiler, and 3-in-1 Pg. 1

Middle Busters and Subsoilers

Neither one of these seems to have a shear pin on the shank.

Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes what I am looking for?

Thanks in advance.

Seems like you could easily replace the lower bolt with a shear pin in the Cimarron model.

Rankin also has one, the ER-25 I believe. I bought the Countyline SS/middle buster combo from TSC and it worked really well this weekend. No shear pin protection though.
