I have tried them both and think that the FEL and rear blower the best of both worlds.
Remember when you plow you create banks, sure with the FEL you can remove them---with time. Blower is slower but no banks left behind. And you still have on the FEL if you need it.

I have a 6' loader mounted curtis blade and a 5' snow blower for my 30hp tractor. I also have a 7' box blade on the bigger tractor. I have only ever used the curtis blade one year and same with the snow blower. The snow blower we keep for if we ever get dumped on heavy real bad but that hasn't been a problem recently. I use the 7' box blade on the bigger tractor for everything, I can push with it and I can also back up to spots and pull snow away from an area easily. I can drag snow easily to a spot where I want to dump it and really clean up the driveway easily. I just pull up to where I want the snow, lift the box, back over the snow pile and use the loader on that tractor to push it forward off the edge of the road there.

The Curtis blade was nice and if my choice was either that blade of a rear blade I would, well I would put both on but if I only had one I would go with the front blade so I am not having to look behind me as much.

I am about to put the Curtis blade on the small tractor again anyway as I am taking it to my grandfathers place for him to use this winter. I will see if he wants to put the rear blade on it as well.

I just bought a rear snowblower for my BX25, so I could leave the FEL on for moving piles of snow. However, I also have a 60" plow on my ATV that I will use for light stuff because, yes, it is very fast. At the same time I haven't really had a good chance to use my new rear blower:(, and so I am anxious for some heavy snow like they just had in London, Ontario (up to 40"). Man, could I ever have some tractor fun there today! :licking:

When I bought my 3 pt hitch blower I felt I wanted to have the FEL for use around the place, like moving snow piles and what have you. For the past four years I have used the blower for just about every storm and there hasn't been a single time I used the FEL for moving back banks because there isn't any.

I have used it during times we only had about two inches of snow, but it is really a pain in the backside. This year I have purchased a front snow blade and will be installing that this weekend so the FEL will be off for most of the winter.

If I had to do it all over again I would bite the bullet and buy a front mounted snowblower and a rear blade.

I think the most versatile set-up for you would be a rear blower and a loader/bucket on the front.

My gut feeling is the plow BUT, what if your banks fill in and you need to move them.?? Now you got your plow out front and what out back.??...A rear blade.?? Doesn't make sense to me.

With a blower chances are very slight that you will need anything else. And, with the bucket up front it might help get you out of a jam if things get deep.

I say blower and bucket.

I would go with the blower unless you have lots of places to put the snow. Snow piles up quickly when you push it. Part of why your snow plow guy isn't doing a good job might be because your driveway is not an easy driveway to plow.

I have a curtis 5ft fel hydrilic tilt plow I originally bought it for my 400 ft paved driveway, works well but too much weight to use the float I have to keep the blade just off the driveway, Now i'm building a log home with a 1000 ft drive in the snow belt (we just got 48" in 3 days and 1-2 more ft expected), removing that much snow was too much for the curtis plow, I got it done but it took a long time, I think I am going to get a 5 ft 3ph blower in conjunction with the plow, The curtis will work well with any snow under 8 or 10" of snow, or plan "B" get a bigger tractor, (currently using a B3200)
