Please! Who makes Kubota\'s oil

Well TBNer's...It's time to change my hydraulic oil because I bent adn have to replace my tranny suction line leading from my hyd. filter. Anyway it's tough to spend the $13.50/ gal cost of super udt or even the udt costs and am looking to buy Pennzoil Hydra-Tranz instead. Even if I don't go that route I still want to know why and who makes their oils and why is it so superior... PLEASE someone here has to know who manufactures Kubota oil. Thanks

check this if you like

Re: Please! Who makes Kubota\'s oil

Chances are it's the low bidder who blends it to Kubota specs.
There are only so many different companies that operate refineries out there and that number is a lot less than the brands of oil products you see.

Yeah Egon that's what I've been thinking and I can't believe that nobody actually knows who it is.

Re: Please! Who makes Kubota\'s oil

Darin, I payed $25.00 per 2.5 gallon container. I did not care who made it, I just used what they recommended. If the price is a huge issue to you, you could substitute with Kubota UDT, for that matter, the Universal tractor fluid sold at NAPA would probably do and its doubtful that any warranty issues would be violated. Check it out. The $125.00 I paid for the hydraulic oil was a minor price to pay compared to the cost of the machine plus the fact that it will be some time before its done again.

By the way, the Kubota Super UDT exhibited characteristics slightly better then Amsoil 30 series. If the "low bidder" as was commented by someone else were in fact correct, (thats assuming Kubota doesn't make their own) then they are doing a pretty good job.

My 2 cents says get the 2.5 gallon containers of Super UDT and if your stretched to thin to get that, get some 5 gallon pails of Universal Tractor Fluid at a discount store costs, make sure its approved for Kubota, get it and be sure to let the tractor warm up extra long.

Re: Please! Who makes Kubota\'s oil

For what it's worth, as far as I know Chevron Synthetic All-Weather Tractor Hydraulic Fluid is the only product on the market which is approved by Kubota as a substitute for Super UDT. This leads me to suspect (which is by no means proof) that Chevron is the real manufacturer of Kubota Super UDT. Additional comments and/or thoughts are welcome.

Re: Please! Who makes Kubota\'s oil

Rat I do agree that it's a small price to pay for a $$$$$$ machine but the question is who makes the oil that is superior to other name brands. I just changed my hydraulic oil 70 hrs ago with the impression that I won't have to worry about it for a long time. Well ding goes the suction line and now I'm changing it again. Luckily I didn't put the high dollar Super in the last time or it would of hit harder in my brain. I am just trying to find out the manufacturer. Yeah I guess I don't have to worry about it but I am curious as a cat now. Thanks again.

I was going to get that Chevron oil but wasn't able to find a local dealer...Yet anyways. You are right they meet or exceeds the Kubota Super UDT.

Re: Please! Who makes Kubota\'s oil

Isn't it kind of like buying the Ford specific motor oil that is the only oil you're supposed to use in your Ford vehicle. Nevermind that it can be up to $3.50 a quart depending on the dealer. It's no more superior than any other oil and I really don't thing Kubota, JD, NH, or any other mfg.'s oil is anymore superior than the brand you buy from the farmstore that is rated for your specific tractor. On my 4020 I lost the front hose for the hydraulics and I put back in the expensive deere hydraulic fluid. Well it happened again, defective replacement part, and when I went in I asked the service manager if I really had to use the same stuff or if it would be ok to just use the farm and fleet brand. He said just between us that there was no difference in the oil that they make and what the mfg's recommend. So take that for what it's worth.

Re: Please! Who makes Kubota\'s oil

Opps, Darin, I forgot you mentioned your suction line. I meant to ask, What? How did the suction line go ding? I had a set of information sheets on Kubota UDT, Super UDT and Amsoil 30 hydraulic oil. The Super UDT had the best low temperature qualities of the 3 and thats saying a lot as the Amsoil is all synthetic. Super UDT definitely has a particular odor unique to it. I would not know about the Chevron oil and its attributes. Chevron is very particular about its products, ie. it will only allow Chevron stations to use fuel blended and refined by Chevron, this includes the franchise owners, that is what a Chevron fuel delivery told me. Valvoline is known to make a lot of products for 2nd party companies. In the end, my understanding about Super UDT is that it offers better cold performance then UDT which for HST is of particular importance in cold conditions.
Sorry about the confusion on my part about the suction line, I had it in my brain you were doing the routine everybody does it 50 hour or 200 hour hydraulic fluid change. I even thought about saving the Super UDT I had at my 50 hour change and putting it in my old gear drive International, but after dumping it into some dirty 5 gal buckets, I abondoned that idea. I don't think I would have any reservations about the Chevron oil provided it will in fact replace the Super UDT. Rat...

Re: Please! Who makes Kubota\'s oil

Thanks guys for all your input as I DO appreciate it and have come to look up to all of you for your experiences and knowledge.

Rat, I was actually working in one of my ponds cleaning it out with my excavator (well trying) and then decided to move some fill on the bank and decided to run over the spoil first and then get a better footing. Well the pile was combined with major rock (easily 2 feet in diameter and bigger) Well to make along story short I managed to get almost hung up on the pile binding up my throttle linkage with the hydraulic line that runs from my hyd. filter to the trans case. I wasn't going to worry about it until I seen the bend and the angle it was entering the trans case allowing fluid to drip out and thus probably get air sucked in. I still don't know what I am going to do but have to make up my mind as the parts are coming later this week. I will probably take the easy route and just buy the Kubota oil unless I find something or someone that uses something different.

It's funny that Kubota doesn't recommend their oil in my excavator KX91-2 but states the vis. ratings and a couple manufacturers. I'm not next to the manual and can't remember who but nothing Kubota. Hmmm. But does state----don't mix oils viscosity or manufacturer... Go figure.

Re: Please! Who makes Kubota\'s oil

according to the independent mechanic i use, who has worked for the state highway dept for 22 years as a mechanic, the hwy dept was having all sorts of trouble with the JD brakes etc, until they started using "only" JD hyd fluid!! which is the same thing i have heard from others..something about the compatability of the fluid with the wet brakes.
