Plow questions and good match?

Personally, I do not use blocks.

I cut the dead furrow, put the right wheel(s) in, pull the plow a few feet, then use a Torpedo Level to set the plow level fore and aft and right-to-left. Pull a few more feet and fine adjust.

Raising a tractor on blocks is hazardous.

I was out loozing at it earlier and I agree that the wheel is not in line with the landslide on the rear plow. However when looking at the long curved beam that the plows attached to, it doesn't look to be twisted or bent by any means, I think it may just be the wheel thats bent out of line.

In a worst case scenario, in which I hope it's not, that my plows damaged beyond being able to effectively plow with both at the same time, would it be possible to set it up to run good as a single plow engaging only the front plow?

If not, if I just go through and plow it as good as I can, which would probably be 80% of the ground turned well, would running over it with discs afterwards finish up the rest of the ground that I couldn't get with the plow and make it good for planting?

And in regards to you thinking the the cross shaft is too far to the left, that was done because I was battling the plow wanting to ride really far to the left when in the ground to straighten it out behind the tractor. I really feel like my top link bracket is on the wrong side and it needs to be moved to the right side?? And which way do you recommend I rotate the cross shaft? I'm not sure which way to rotate it for my needs

The wheels bent. That really only means somebody made a mistake. Backed into something or dropped it. Take the wheel off and put in scrap pile. A wheels not required for it to plow straight. It does help with leveling.

Worst case scenario is you un bolt the second plow and pull a 1-14 instead of a 2-14. It'll take twice the time to plow.

Blocks don't matter. Blocks are just to help you set the plow at the shop and then fine tune in the field. I don't use blocks either. The pictures are the tellers. Have the plows down like you was getting ready to take off. Then also picked up.

The back plow should hit first. When picked up it should just clear the ground. Or at least the IH and Ford plows I've messed with did.

Would the discs finish off the what I've got if 80% of the ground is turned good? It really sucks having a plow that can't be properly set up and the guy I bought it from hasn't been responding back to me. I'd feel bad to try to sell it to anyone too.

I'll have to get the pictures tomorrow afternoon when I get home from work. It's dark out now so I won't be able to get any good ones.

A Disc Harrow is one form of a SOIL MIXING Tiller. A Disc Harrow is used in the Spring to chop dead and partially decomposed vegetation and reduce furrow height from plowing in the late Fall or Winter.

A (sufficiently heavy) Disc Harrow will chop sod but in the process buries an infinite number of sod plugs, may of which will grow. A Moldboard Plow inverts sod, leaving the roots up to the roots dry out and the inverted sod dies.

If the plow isn't sitting perfectly flat on concrete, it is sprung and you will never do a proper job plowing with it and will explain why you are having issues with it.
