Plow

Very nicely (and smartly) done. Many folks would forget all about setting the tractor (or the plow) to simulate "level" once in the furrow. Great redo of a classic, to make it useful again.

That plow really does well. I somehow pictured a plow as simply flopping the sod over on the green side and leaving a long ribbon of upside down grass. That's almost like a tiller, looks good.

Great job, Milkman. I also found a cheap old plow some months back but figured it was too big, but ground has been too hard anyway. Now, with your success, I'll give it a try when conditions get better. I was lucky that the prior owner pulled it behind a 8N via a modified 2" sq tool bar for the 3PH so, I just have to hook it up and give it a try without mods. Thanks for the inspiration!
Cheers!

I tried that with a David Bradley plow, for my sister in law. Her Economy 14 hp pulled it too well, she hit a rock and bent the beam. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Milkman,

Looks like you did a real nice job on it. Seems to do a nice job of plowing also.

I appreciate all the kudos, just got lucky i guess, the ground where the garden was, broke up really well but the sod where it hadn't been plowed for years came out a lot rougher, partly because it was so dry and partly because sod just clumps together like that.

I had thought about a plow from an old 8N but I think the beam on the front plow sticks out too far forward to hook up to the BX because of the short TPH arms. I have the Pats Easy Change which makes the arms almost 4" longer and I still don't think they would hook up. I don't think there would be very many instances of soil conditions where you could pull the two bottom because of the lack of traction. I really wanted to find two of the Brinley-Hardy garden tractor plows and make a two bottom plow for my TPH, but I came upon this one and it worked out. Let us know how yours works, with pictures of course.
