Thanks again for all the great help.

I "plowed" 3 odd acres with a subsoiler then a 5' King Kutter rototiller behind my L3200 (same machune as your L2501, just a different engine tune). It did fine with loaded R4s.

A rototiller will be more manuvervable & generally more useful for you than a plow & disk harrows when dealing with a couple acres. Plow setup can be an art (a dying art at that). Pulling a $200 subsoiler & a tiller is a matter of lowering the 3pt & pushing on the go pedal until the engine bogs, then letting off a little.

If I decide on R1's I will go with the more expensive radial tires rather than bias ply.

Tractor radial tires are low pressure, fat tires. Therefore, radials have a relatively large ground patch. Good when tractor owner wants to minimize soil compaction. Large ground patch aids with traction. Several radial tread patterns offered.

For low horsepower, medium chassis L2501 I do not believe you will accrue any advantage with radial tires over R1s or R4s. I would spend the radial money elsewhere.

Radials are air filled for float and flexibility in Europe.

My L2501 (geared) runs a two bottom plow easily. I've plowed in the summer on fairly hard ground and it rips right on through.

I think it depends on the blade (s) on the plow. I got a single bottom (thinking it's 14") that I bought at a used farm equip. auction. I have a L3301 and I had that sucker loaded down plowing with this plow. It was a working mighty hard. However, the ground had never been plowed and was pretty hard clay mix. I was letting her go deep, too. Got it done and it was rough trying to disk it after the plowing. I really had some dirt turned up !

Plowing for me is turning over the top 6-8"... I hope you were not trying to turn over 14"
