I need help with the appropriate plowing pattern for using my Berta Rotoryplow. I can't seem to find the right pattern that allows me the most efficient path to plow new land. i'm trying to prepare a bed 200ft x 100ft. Can anybody help me with this seemingly simple problem?

It seems Berta has a lot to chew.

I would work back and forth the short way. That way I can take a short rest every 100 feet. I bet Berta would want a short cool down also.

Hi! As for moldboardplow You make a line in center of your land (I use 3 post) You plow in center line first. After you turn around your center plow line . Good Luck! Oldmech

I went the long way, and finished it, but have a few trenches from me plotting my course. I'd like to know how to start out and continue plowing so that there is only one trench or none if possible. The berta only spits out to the right...is this like finding the ketchup in the refridgerator? It can't be this hard...

check out utube for gravely rotory plow vids/instructions.

gravely spits to the right also.

Mark the center of your garden. Starting at the north end, start 8" to left of center (this should put the right edge of the rotary tiller at the center line), make your first pass going south (i go long direction). at the south end turn around, again 8" left of center (tossing dirt to the right onto the pile you just created) and head back north.

youll then wind up at the north end with a wide(ish) hill with 2 trenches on either side. rinse and repeet

each time you make a pass the tiller will toss the dirt (to the right) into the trench from the last pass leaving a mostly lvl (tilled) section of ground.

At the end of the garden you have trenches on each edge which make good irrigation/run off catches
