No.

Depends on soil conditions. Start in Low "Turtle", move up to Low "Rabbit" if the machine isn't lugging down. Loose enough soil may let you do it in the High ranges.

Anything else you could do with a gear tractor.

I need to look down & check.. probably 2000+ by now.

I didn't get to plow any this fall.. I bushhogged the cornfields .. then bailed some corn fodder. I then hit the fields w/ a pull disk.. and used an Oliver Superior 76 Grain Drill to plant winter wheat.. I pull a cultipacker behind the drill for good seed/ground contact.. levels the ground pretty good too!

I've plowed plenty with my 40 D. I don't think it is any more or less suited. Only issue is that with a gear you just pick a gear, set the throttle and go. With the hydro, you've got to have a way to set the pedal (such as cruise control). I've typically plowed with my 2 - 14" in l (low) and rabbit. Low and turtle would be a little too slow for my liking.

I've done everything I used to do with my gear 1720, including disking and dragging. Don't worry, that hydro is meant to be worked.

Ditto what Doc Heb said.......you can do anything with the hydro that you can do with the geared tractor and you won't hurt the hydro.I have abused the heck out of my tractor and no problems with the hydro itself..the only problem I have had is the linkage to my hydro needs replaced because I have worked the pedals so much...but the hydro tranny itself has worked great.

No problems so far w/ the tractor.. I run a 2-bottom trip plow.. I've broken one plow tip.. and one of the "trip plow's" locking springs.. these boomer's are tuff machines.
