For my waterline, which is only 800 feet long, they water department provided me with metal elbows for the turns. They did not want the pipe to bend, so I have several 45's in my run.
This was 20 years ago, and my memory of what they looked like isn't great. I remember there was a lot of bolts to hold them together, and they were very heavy.
Since my pipe is gasketed, and slides in and out as the ground expands and contracts, they had me install about a dozen sacks of concrete at the end of the line to stop the pipe from moving more than it should. Then they taped into the side of my pipe for the meter.
When I ran my waterline into my land, I talked to the guy in charge of the Water Department. He told me what he wanted me to use, and then he sold it to me at their cost. He wanted me to do it his way, which I agreed with. They know more than I do, so I did all the labor, but with their materials.
