Pneumatic seeders - how is suction created?

I am interested in what kind of "vacuum" pump is commonly used in pneumatic seeder systems. I've googled tractor pto vacuum pump and surprisingly little useful results were returned.



From videos I saw, it looks like a centrifugal pump. I googled that too and most hits are for transferring fluids. I guess such pump can also be used for creating vacuum. If anyone operates a pneumatic seeder, I'll be grateful if you could share what kind of pump is mounted on it.

What are you trying to accomplish? Do you have one you're trying to repair? Are you trying to make one of your own?

I'm looking to buy the vacuum unit so I can play around with it maybe come up with something useful. This is out of fun, not out of need.

I am sorry if embedding link to google search looks spammy. I am trying to show you guys that I've done research and hopefully save you some key presses. There is not much written on such systems and not a single PTO vacuum pump is listed on the reseller sites that I know of.

I used to see ads for "air" seeders in a farm publication. Maybe you'd find more information if you subtitute "air" for "pneumatic".
