Poison Oak and Global Warming

Scientists... UN report on global warming.... How many bad ideas can we group together? I'm sorry, but I have a hard time respecting any organization that uses light blue helmets. I'd really like to hear from some of the Michican contingent around February on this whole idea of global warming. :)

1934 was found to be the hottest year on record, not 1998, or 2004.

Temperture gauges : 1

Climate Computer models: 0

HA!! :D

Also keep in mind "on record" is a pretty short time, all things considering. How can you predict anything with so little data? And yes, in the grand scheme of things, even 100 years of weather data is insignificant.

If you accept that the climate is warming, regardless of the reasons for the change, you'd pretty much have to accept also that there will be changes in the distribution and growth patterns of vegetation. Predicting the effect on individual plant species would be difficult at best, but suggesting that some degree of warming will affect all plant species in a given area the same way, that is will favor increased growth for all, for instance, is certainly contrary to the obvious fact that some plants do better in warm climates and some favor cooler climates. In my area we seem to be shading from zone 5 to zone 6, which will be good for my pecans, I hope. On the other hand, we might also start seeing more kudzu. If the kudzu comes I hope it eats the darn wild grape!

Even if it was related and even if the IDEOLOGY of global warming was real - which is not - you can not meassure the difference in your back yard. How would you do that? like it was only up to here last year and is all the way to this tree this year?

IMNSHO the local weather and conditions has much bigger influence on it than anything in the world.

And about people looking for scape goats for everything - the whole east block mastered it. We had jokes about socialism having 4 main enemies preventing it from being as productive as the evil West - Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.:)

Thats exactly what some people in my country will say - never I am a lazy idiot, who did not study at school and generaly too stupid to do anything and thats why I dont make enough money etc.. - they will say: the government didnt do this, or government has to do that, or the greedy oil companies ar at fault and or and or.... you got the picture. Not taking responsibility for your own life and your own actions is the worst damage that the stupid Marx/Engels/Lenin founded #$%$%@#$ experiment done to whole nations.

And it really hurts to hear some Americans say: It would work if the corrrect people were doing it. Yeah, right!

OK, off my soap box now, pardon my venting:)

That's OK Chech. I heard another story to that effect. If Communist Russia would have taken over the Gobi Desert, within a week there would be a sand shortage....:p

Anyone remember when they used to say we were heading for an ice age?
Heard an interesting thing on public radio today- seems some scientists say the Clean Air Act removed so much air pollution that IT is the reason we are warming...the cleaner air blocks less of the sunlight:cool:
One good volcano eruption could reverse the whole warming deal if it sprays enough ash into the atmosphere...

We once thought 110% was a mathematic impossibility. But then who ever expected football coaches to start doing math?:D
