It's been colder than -20F several times here. 1984, 1985, 1994. Seems it's always the third week of January. In 1994 we had a cabin rented at Potato Creek and it hit -22 out there. We went ice fishing. It was nice. Caught a couple dozen 11" perch. But after an hour or so of sitting on an upside down bucket (no tent or shanty) my father-in-law couldn't take it anymore, so we left. I went out several times that week and had the place to myself.

Yummy..Perch.

Used to test the antifreeze at the start of winter, but not anymore as it doesn't get very cold on the coast side of Washington state.

The only machine I have that I'm concerned about the anti-freeze in is my '93 Suburban. It had a radiator hose blow this summer. Forgot if I checked the antifreeze level after I repaired and refilled it. I'm sure I did, but gotta check again, just to be sure.

My PowerTrac Pt425 is an air cooled Kohler, so I just keep a battery tender on that all winter, and use a battery booster and a shot of carb cleaner when I need to start it below about 5F.

We buy a lot of off road diesel and we are careful to treat the fuel in the tank on the equipment that is not used as much. I typically add the anti-gel in the fall before the switch to the winter blend. Once we are in the winter blend we don't worry. Nothing worse than getting caught with summer blend fuel in your equipment. You'll only make the mistake once.

I moved my 2.5 gallon water fire extinguisher, handy wipes and a couple of fizz cans from the tin shed into the heated garage, just in case the tin shed freezes. It's been below 40 degrees inside 3 times so far this winter and today will probably be the 4th time, unless the sun comes out.

Good news, the sun came out. 40.9 degrees inside the tin shed. Woo Hoo!!

My truck is diesel. It was -13 when I started it up this morning. No issues with the pump fuel

I致e never had any trouble with gas station diesel jelling

Where are you located?

Add that to your profile so your comments can be quantified

Last year I had my fuel gel in my BX. It wasn't as cold as its suppose to get this week either. "Should" have been winter fuel also but you wonder, I also had added Howes to it and it still gelled. I've also suspected I had the fuel gell a couple of other times but had the original little fuel filters on my BX at the time and it was hard to tell for sure.

Same here. I always keep a couple full 5g cans on hand and rotate them so it's possible to have summer blend still in the winter. I put Power Service in 'em when I fill them, no problems yet (knocking on wood).

I'll go out on a limb and guess that your truck gets used regularly so it's likely the fuel is fresh and seasonal. If your tractor doesn't get used much it could still have last fall's fuel in it.

My truck does get used everyday but the post I responded to wasn't regarding stored or old fuel. The poster said they didn't trust diesel that came out of the pump and always added anti gel

That is a waste of time IMO unless you are treating summer blend
