Polaris ATV's are junk??? Go through a puddle and something will sieze up???
LMAO! 2001 Sportsman 500 Ducks Unlimited edition used for everything under the sun and used hard - 0 issues. Yup thats right count em 0. I cross my river with this thing constantly, floated it many times across a duck marsh. Pulled big trees, Let my son run it WFO up and down the dirt roads, daily farm chores, snow plowing duty, fence building, wood hauling, pasture raking, garden disking, trail clearing, brush busting tough SOB. I will buy another if this one ever gets to the point that I need one. I do greas it twice a year and there are a good number of places that need to be gressed, and change the oil twice a year.

I have owned two Polaris 325/330s. The first one was great, even though the engine didn't like to idle. Unfortunately, it got immolated in a bushfire. I bought another one, brand new, so a later year model, and the **** thing kept leaking oil out of the line to the oil cooler. Had it fixed under warranty, but it kept doing, so I had it replaced again. Even after that, I was riding around one day and the engine started making an awful noise. Turned off the bike and got off to see what was wrong, and here is the bloody oil flow line hanging down. Oil light hadn't come on, oil pumped out onto ground, engine.... well there is no polite word for it.

After that, I bought a Honda 350. Gutluss and not as comfortable, but reliable and cheap and easy to maintain - which is what you want on the farm.

I have no idea what the Sportsman 500 are like. If they screw the oil lines on alright, they would probably be OK.

I have a Polaris and it works amazingly well and I wouldn't change the brand. Its a 2007 Polaris Sportsman. I never had any problems. I have been maintaining it. Its got lots of power and capacity and the suspension on it rocks. Over rocks and logs, branches, you name it. It work. :D

I own a 2000 500 Sportsman and never have had a bit of trouble with it. This machine has been everywhere imaginable and keeps on ticking.

At the risk of high-jacking your thread, has anybody got experience with a Sportsman 6x6? I have the chance to exchange some excavation for one with 165 miles on it. The thing has always been kept inside and other than seeing it in the garage I have yet to look it over. Just curious as to the ups and downs of the 6x6.

Thanks.
