Yesterday I was at Sams Club and they had a new electric utv out front.
Did a search here but showed nothing. They're on the high $ side at $10999.
base price. It looks like the decked out price is around 14k!!
They seem to be a lot heavier duty than a golf cart.
The quietness and capacity are really appealing.
Anyone have one?

No,it's a Polaris Ranger EV.
I was asking if anyone here owns one.

I purchased a Polaris EV about 2 months ago, now have 46 hours on it. I use it every day for getting around, light chores, on our 10 acres. I find it useful & fun, novelty has not yet worn off.

The ride is comfortable, quiet, enough power & speed for me. It's rated 25mph, I rarely top 6mph, ride mostly on bush-hogged fields, tractor paths. The 50 mile range is way more than enough for a days use here.

The negative side is cost. Even with the 15% rebate for ag use from the state of California, the Polaris EV is going to be more costly in the long run than the same size Polaris 400 gas model. A new battery pack will be $1300 at current cost.

Another potential negative factor is excessive vehicle weight, 1750#, with the 650# of batteries. So far it has not seemed like a problem on dry ground, but I expect use on soggy ground will be more limited than a lighter UTV.

Just curious. How many hours can you expect before you have to replace the battery pack?

The Owners Manual says the battery pack can last 4 years or longer, depending on use. I believe the total amount of current drawn is more of a factor than hours of use. Also, deep, more complete, discharge will degrade, shorten battery life.

Batteries are US Battery 12v XC deep cycle.

I would like to ask if the $1300 battery replacement was from Polaris or any deep cycle battery?
Just curious...

Today I priced a new blue 2010 EV Ranger at $10755 total price out the door.
Tomorrow I will checkout the other dealer.

The $1300 figure was given by the Polaris dealer, when I asked what it might cost to replace the battery pack.

Just any 12v deep cycle battery might not work. I would make sure that the specs match the original, which is not the typical 12v deep cycle. Both the controller & on-board charger are programmed to match the power curve of the original battery pack.
