Always remember if you ate this morning you have to THANK A FARMER ! :2cents::thumbsup:

Uhhh...
Do I have to thank a "Farmer" for importing an extremely invasive species????

But, I must admit the Himalayan blackberries do have wonderful berries ;) They don't cost much either :2cents:

They have been cultivated as a larger sweeter berry in the US since 1885 , they are found all over the world and are spread by birds eating the seeds .Hardly a fault of any farmer !

There is 112 acres with 1000' on a river. It is 11,000 feet from hard top entrance to the river. It is about 7000 feet wide at widest point. The swampy portion is about 45 acres due to the river and all neighbor lands flows into this portion. It is beautiful to include the swampy portion which is only wet a portion of the years. Trees are up to 100 feet.

Jim, the first house I ever bought was in Chesapeake, VA in the Deep Creek township. The whole area there is really part of the Great Dismal Swamp or not much above it in elevation. I understand how your 112 acres is a huge job on weekends when you can get there. Stuff grows quickly there and turns into a jungle right before your eyes. With your having 8 stents (I have one), I don't think maintaining that acreage is what they mean by physical therapy. I think you are making a wise decision to downsize to something more manageable and more enjoyable. Of course, the problem is finding a buyer. Raw land can be very hard to sell. You might have to sub-divide it to get it into smaller tracts. Whatever you do, good luck and I'm really happy you got your UTV unstuck. Maybe a Polaris RZR might be a better choice for that terrain; also more $$$.:)

Thanks Jim. Thankfully KTAC is backing our policy and the Ranger is at the dealer for checkup to include the bear damage.
This is a beautiful area. In another thread I asked about Chip Mills for the lower woods. But tonight realized I want to leave the woods and brush as is. Not only is it beautiful to see the trees wave in the wind, beauty comes out of that woods. There have been huge deer, largest turkey I have ever seen in my life and many others. I love to track so there is a steady movement to gives me joy.
As for selling, land is popping here and acreage of this size is being snap up for horse farms and development. I am asking $590K for the 112 acres and there are 5 acre lots near us for $148k.
My neighbor just sold 6 acres for $124k and 32 acres for $430k. Hopefully it stays a farm.
But I will continue to enjoy until sold.
You lived in a great area of Deep Creek. The Dismal Swamp, Intracoast Waterway and Dismal Swamp Trail are about 2 miles due West. Thanks for the kind words, Jim.

As mentioned, do not crank the engine. Hydrolocking will cost you big if there is water in the cylinders. After you winch it out, or whatever, drain the oil on the spot. If it is milky, I would put in new oil. Run the engine just briefly and then change it again.

Only crank the engine after the oil has been changed and WITH THE SPARK PLUGS OUT. If no water sprays out of the spark plug holes, then at least the top end is good to go. If water does spray out, you would probably want to spray some light oil or wd40 in the plug holes and continue cranking for a bit to displace the water.

Good luck

I'm glad all will work out. Some folks here rush to judgement, based on the need to BE right, rather than the desire to DO right. I would be the first to throw my hat in the ring and help you out, if I was in your neck of the woods. Good luck, and God bless! Oh, thank you for your service, there are still those among us who respect what you've done, and given!

Thank you LJ....all stated is much appreciated. The farmers who retrieved the Polaris would not take money. They said it was the right thing to do, and they knew they could count on us. The last is a reward I would wish on anyone (being counted on!). Good day, Jim
