For that price it better be able to serve unlimited martinis with double olives!
Seriuosly do look around for a deal on a Warn 4000 lb winch but the trick is to also locate a proper winch pad platform if you do need one. Both pieces installed by you shouldn't be more that $600.00. Good luck and post pics as you go. WARN-WARN-WARN

I always have had good luck with Warn winches. Doing an install on my new Polaris 550 EFI as soon as mounting bracket arrives. All the other have been dealer installed or came from the factory. Can't be that hard right?

Check ebay for the kits, got the Ranger multimount one a few years back for $400 had Warn 4000lb winch, wires and receiver mount. KFI makes some good aftermarket mounts, got one for the RTV1100. The polaris kits may make it easier for the install though. Have found quite a few Polaris dealers on ebay selling stuff cheaper than my local dealer also.

Warn or Ramsey. i had a Ramsey on my Rhino. 3,000lb was around $350 I believe an dit had a remote, no wires to deal with. Sounds like the dealer is taking you for ride...

Warn winches are expensive, I'm planning on getting a Ranger in the near future, I've had a Polaris sportsman for 10 years. From reading ATV/UTV forum boards the last few years, The Viper winches seem to be a favorite posters on these boards. They look like solid units and stand behind their product. (made in MN)

I purchased a 2010 Ranger 800 XP last spring...no winch yet but I agree with the above...Ranger forums all seem to speak very positively about the Viper winches...and I believe they are quite a bit less expensive than the Warn. FWIW...TMR

I just installed a WARN on my RTV that was designed specifically for my model and unit.........For me now matter what brand you buy, going the specifically designed for route is the way to go..........I am not an engineer so having the factory/manufacturer do the design and fab work means a lot..........

Do others besides Warn do this???????...............All of the parts and instructions that one needs for installation are shipped?????...........You pay for what you get.......God Bless.......Dennis

I installed a 4500# Viper winch with Amsteel cable on my Kubota RTV900. I did a lot of research and the Viper has a lot of rave reviews. The price was around $275, and included a mounting plate. I have used it twice to pull my 2000 lb. RTV out of muddy creek beds, and it has done an excellent job. For occasional use I could not justify the cost of a Warn or Ramsey, especially when I found the Viper with such good reviews.
