I like the Floor Stain, I did mine 18 months ago and it has not held up. I sued Rustolium Floor Stain after 45 drying days. I etched and applied per can & video but stuff peels up easy. The same brand sealer comes up with any chemical spill. Brake fluid or gas/brake cleaner bubbles it up so fast it is not funny. I can miss a drop and follow it to the floor with a dry rag and there is a spot where it hit...

my living quarters are taking forever as I'm not on site very often either working too much or laid off (got pink slip today) and will not have the $...

Sorry I've not replied to my own thread with the questions from you guys. I became very busy and completely forgot about this thread until today. To answer the insurance question... No, it wasn't a problem at all. The building inspector liked my work and that's all that matters.

What type of sleeve are the posts set in where they go into the ground?

I'm not sure what the sleeves are called or made of. I know they are thick and strong though. I had to trim some of them in the living area as I framed it and installed drywall and pine siding. All I know is they are supposed to keep water and bugs from contacting the poles.

That is beautiful. I assume it is a hunting/recreation property. Where is it located? How many acres? Did you build the pond? I'm sure it is very satisfying considering you did most of the work. Very nice indeed.

It's located on 55 acres in Owen County Indiana. I was looking for property in 2006 to purchase as hunting land, but when I found this property, I realized I just found the place I want to retire on. Retirement is a long way off, but at least I have a barn to stay in while I'm there hunting and fishing. The pond was built a couple years before I purchased the land. It's one and a quarter acres.

Well, the floor stain looked amazing when I first applied it, but you're correct, it does not hold up well at all. I'm disappointed in it, but the living area holds up much better and the barn area is a barn... I shouldn't have wasted my money on the stain. I used Rustoleum stain as well.

Thank you and yes, you do see tenon cutters. I started building log furniture last year. So far I've only built a coffee table, a garden stool and an end table, but I have a lot of small logs cut and drying, so hopefully I'll make some more within the next year.

I really like your building, the wood siding with metal roof, stained concrete floor, living quarters and of course the 15' eves. I plan to build one like this to retire in some day. Nice work.
