I'm having trouble getting a mental picture of what you are describing .Call it brain fade . Had a fun day sorting out a building some Wood buthchers started, then realized they were way over their heads /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Is it a single 2x 6 or 8 , spliced into the top of the columns ? If it is it sounds like a method WICK uses on the gable ends . When I first saw one I thought it was lame . But it sure beats picking up and setting a 6x6 or 6x8 column that is 10 or 12 feet longer /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Wick does things a bit different than most . A lot of their stuff uses 6x8 columns as opposed to 6x6 . And the seem to like using 2x6 wall girts . Their headers are usually super heavy duty and SO much fun to put up . especially on buldings that are 18' under /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
BTW I'm in no way connected to Wick , But they do some pretty heavy duty buildings . All the best, John
