well, i think i got it, understand the j-channel and windows and all, thanks to you all's help. The only other thing i can think of that i need some help with is the roof ventilation, i am ready to order my siding and got to thinking about the ventilation, i want to use those triangle vents that mount at the top of the gable walls and follow the roof line, 1 on each gable wall, i am wondering how they install though, do they just nail to the trusses and then you put up the metal siding right up to the bottom of the vent? Do you run the top of the vent right up to the roof or to the bottom of the soffit?
again, sorry for all the questions and thanks for all your help with this!

They are the same as the windows with built in J. You need to leave some gap above them to nail them on and then you have to side around them. Ideally you would have put in ridge vent when you did your roof and not had to worry about the gable vents. If you did do ridge vents then don't worry about the gables unless you didn't do enough on the ridge. Also, I would consider getting the vinyl gable vents. They are a nice unit and fairly cheap and you can get them in almost any color you need as well as shape.

I used a regular ridge cap..as far as the gable venting, do they come pre-made in the pitch and span of the roof already or?? also, so you say to leave enough room to nail it on, my roof has a 1' overhang on the gable ends, do i bring this venting as close to the underside of the tin on the roof as i can and still nail it, or do i put up the soffit first and then stop the vent at the bottomside of the soffit?

You need to leave a gap around the gable vent. Something big enough you can get your steel around it and the soffit. Depending on your pitch you should be able to find the right gable vent at a good lumber yard (around here Home Depot is useless for anything that is not stocked). If you can't, the metal gable vents that are adjustable will work fine (like I said, I prefer the vinyl. Doesn't make it better).

Not sure what you mean by leaving a gap to get the steel around, the vents i am talking about are triangle and fit the truss, go right up to the roof, then the steel siding is run from the ground up to the bottom of the vent, ive seen it on a lot of houses around here and garages, i tried to find a pic of one on the net but cant find nothing..
