Pole building Estimates

We are planning on a pole shed 20X16, open on 3 sides and we hope to keep it under $1000.
We have a pile of logs on the ground have a portable sawmiller coming by to saw our logs into lumber to make the shed. We'll have to get some meyal for the roof, and some hardware thingys...but we think we can get this done and stay under $1,000. We estimate the lumber milling will come in around $500, that should get us plenty for the shed, and whatever. BTW, depending on how much lumber comes from the milling our shed could grow in size and a possible lofted area for storage.

We'll have dirt/gravel flooring, I've been leveling up the spot for about a week now it's pretty darn close to snuff know.

I have a few more trees to add to the collection of logs, many of which are already down from when they cleared our house site, so I just need to trim them and drag them. We'll use the small stuff 6"-10" for the POLES. You call us FRUGAL, well, we say cheap and broke!

This is great information all, I really appriciate the advice and your experiences. In looking at your pictures, you all have some nice buildings. :)

I would really like to do it myself but time is an issue but I can do the running of electicity, finishing the front and clearing the land on the weekends.

From what I read above, I'm thinking $8,000 to 10,000 with a gravel floor and 3 sides.

Also I looked at buildings from a company call US Buildings. They looked like quonset huts. Anyone ever deal with these? They quoted me $5,000 for the kit.

I'm starting to think about a having a pole building built for my tractor, riding and push lawnmowers, some attachments, and other man toys but with all projects this must start with permission from "she who must be obeyed."

So with that said, I need about a 24 by 36 by 10 feet high pole building and was wonder what people have paid for their pole building so I can have some point of reference.

Also, I was thinking that I would start with just the roof and a gravel floor and later add sides, doors, and possibly a concrete floor.

Here's my equipment shed--20x28 ft floor plan, 10'H dropping to 9'H on the closed side.

28 ga metal siding and roofing.

Materials: ~$3500. Labor: about 2 months of my labor.

Pretty sure those building require a concrete floor, or at least perimeter footing, to put up. I do recall one member assembling one and saying it was much more difficult than originally thought.

Hello from Charlottesville. I'm having a steel building with those EXACT dimensions erected on Tuesday for about $8000. The concrete pad (same dimensions) was poured earlier this week for $3500 (4"). You can see the details of my project on the thread here: Tips for Outfitting a New Storage Building? - TractorByNet.com

Good luck!

I've got an estimate for a 20 X 30 with 10 foot walls, concrete floor and an 8 X 8 garage door and a 36" steel entry door for $10,800 :p

If you have any desire for a concrete floor, do it now before you put all your toys and tools inside, as you'll probably never get around to putting in the floor you really want afterwards.

I had a 36 x 24 enclosed pole barn built last fall for $8500. Included oak boarding in one 12 x 24 section to serve as a run in and 2 sets of doors to clse off the other 2 12 x 24 spaces. Roof was metal. Contractor prepped the base and I paid for the 10 loads of shale.

My grandpa builds barns like that for a living. If only I knew the price that he would estamate. Good luck! So, is your tractor sitting outside?
