Pole building or metal building

I got a quote back for a 42x48x12. (2) entry doors (2) 10x10 garage doors, all insulated. (4) windows and insulated roof- 70k.

Fully insulate the interior and finish the inside with plywood and acoustical steel, 88k.

That's a pretty chunk of change, but they have a good reputation for quality buildings.

I know it must seem like a lot, but they do EXCELLENT work, and a pole barn is a lifetime structure.
Go with the complete job if you can afford it.
I didn't do that,.....but should have!

I think we will go with them, I just won't be doing it today. When I reached out I told them I didn't want to get started on anything until this fall. The gentleman wanted to come see the site and put together a quote so we would know what we were looking at. We just built a home last year, and I wanted to spend the next couple months paying off a few small things, then get into the barn.

Interesting I definitely need to do some more thinking about which way I want to lean... paying for the slab up front may be off the table right this second so i might lean towards the pole building side since it the size isn’t going to be as large as some have built here.. especially since I can add the slab down the road... if I tar the posts before sinking them into the dirt.. wouldn’t that help prevent rot?

Should you tar the posts before sinking?

A lot depends on the type of pressure treating used.
If you get direct burial material, I don't think tarring would be warranted

The posts I bought for my pole barn are guaranteed for 50 years. They are triple 2x6 laminated into a post. I asked the company if I should tar them or use plastic sheaths. They said it is unnecessary, and they offered the sheaths as an option.
