Polecat: show us how to eye-splice

Ya got the thing going on knots..... My old buddy used to do a mean eye-splice, but I never could do it very well... what do u want to plait ???just regular 3 strand cotton???or nylon??

All I have is nylon rope. 3-strand, that is. Do not have any braided, braid-on-braid, or kernmantle.

Did you check out any more of those animations? Pretty cool stuff! I wonder if the Scouts did the animation as part of earning a Merit Badge of some type...

I think I understand what you mean by the reinforcers. I was just thinking about a basic eye-splice.

I can never get the length of splice material on the end right, nor "unravel" the raope in the middle to braid the splice in.

thimble is what it is called if anyone cares /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.If you are putting any amount of load on your eye you should have one in place.They are cheap to buy and will save your rope or cable from premature wear.
