Polishing your tractor.

I'm with Egon..... hosed off occaisionally and never waxed. As much as I love my tractor, I see it as a 'tool' for getting certain tasks done. I don't have time to polish my tools.

Waxed lmost every time I use it. Well buffed at least. You know as the leaves of the brush slide down the sides of it. Just to make sure I get the brush coming and going. Sometimes I back over it for the finishing touch.

I'm still involved with the county 4H fair, even though my kids have been out of 4H for 6 years now. Every summer, I take my tractor and manure spreader to the fair so that the kids can keep the barns clean. Before I take it over, the entire tractor gets "detailed". Even clean up the spreader!

The two older tractors don't see water unless it's raining. They have a protective layer of dirt and grime that's almost like an armour plating.

The Deere that gets cleaned was recently repainted. I'm debating painting the old Massey 150 this winter, then the Ford 300 NEXT year. Only problem is, then I'd have to wash 'em once in a while.

I know what you mean about a scratch. I was at a show earlier this year and an older guy fell, stumbled thru the rope and stanchions setup and fel against my allis G. His big "WWF" style belt buckle left a chip in my paint about the size of a bb.. I about fainted. Luckilly, I touched it up, and then buffed it, and re-waxed it.. and you can't tell where it is without having it pointed out.

The tractor I bought new several years ago is the first piece of equipment that has ever been stored under a shed. All of our older tractors sit out in whatever Mother Nature throws at them.
I think my tractor did get power washed by the dealer once when I took it in for warranty work.

"Mine only sees water when it rains" pretty well describes mine too......

I'd probably lose it if someone else caused the damage. If it's me doing it then that's completely different. How's this for picky, I still don't lean my elbows on the fenders or grab them to get on or off. And I cringe when someone else slaps the hood or leans on it. I know I won't always be this way but it's still new to me.

I'll wax my tractor when it starts growing hair.

And besides, if you wax your tractor doesn't all the mud fall off? If the mud falls off, where's the mistique? Lying on the ground, that's where. It's like having a clean Jeep. It just ain't right.

".....polishing my tractor with wax before putting it back in storage. I baby my tractor...."
I do the same....wash and wax after every use. My NHTC40DA looks brand new and better than the Dealer's unit in his show room. I baby all my toys.

Sad to say I wax my JD way more than anything I own.
