Hi all. I'll be digging out a small pond for my wife and her future fish in the upcoming week or two, and part of the process of building this pond will include putting in a pump. Does anyone have any good or bad experiences with any particular brands, types, or other aspects of pond pumps?

The pond will be somewhere around 3,000 gallons and will pump water to a pressurized filter, from the filter to a small waterfall, and from the waterfall back into the pond.

We have a Laguna brand pump in our other pond (~700 gallons?), and it's been problem free for the couple of years it's been running. So, short of any overwhelming recommendations about a different brand, we'd probably just go with another Laguna.

Any opinions/experience appreciated. Thanks!

For that size pond I would go with an external pump. Sequence is very good pump with a very low wattage ratings. You'll pay a little more up front but you will save on your electric.
