We had one of this plastic pond liner kits for awhile. We liked it and the effect of it, but it was a pain. Couldn't run the fountain because everytime the wind would blow, it would blow the water out of the "pond". Because of this the water had would actually drain out of the pond and run underneath the plastic tube and pop it up out of the ground. So we decided we wanted something a little bigger. What I thought was just going to be a bigger plastic one turned out to be an actual hole with a rubber liner. We went from about 90 gallons to almost 2000 when we are done. The new hole is a little over 8' wide by 15' long and almost 26" deep. There is a also the spill way with 2 little pools in it. We still have to at another pool yet to the spill way to receive the water coming from the pump. Wife got a little crazy and bought a 4300 GPH pump. Once I start diverting this to the spill way and a couple of statues though it should be OK.
Here is the first shot of the hole that I was digging.
