Poor mans ultrasonic cleaner

Having soaked the air cleaner off my 3000 for a couple of days in diesel fuel and not getting the results I wanted I tried a different approach.

Had an old saber saw that I wasn't using any longer, wire tied it to a piece of scrap particle board, sat it on hard foam packing I found laying around, put about a gallon of kerosene in a bucket, picture shows the results.

Had to tie the bucket to an old bar stool I had sitting around so it wouldn't vibrate off the board. After 15 minutes it removed much of the gunk built up in the bottom of the filter that the soaking didn't touch. It's still running and about to drive me crazy but it's working

Bob that's a right good idea. When you get done cleaning that filter you might use your gadget to shake a gallon of paint before using it.

Shop is to clean??? Na you are just seeing the one spot on the floor that is more or less clean /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You would not believe the amount of dirt that was in the bottom of the bucket when I dumped and cleaned it. This little experiment was an overwhelming success and the good part was it didn't cost anything.

BTW: Should be obvious but, I would NOT try this with a low flash point solvent (gasoline). Saber saw motors have brushes which equal sparks when running.

Your recommendation should be obvious, but there was a news story recently about a woman who TRIED to start her wood stove with gasoline /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. I never cease to be amazed.

I don't have an old saber saw but I do have an old sander...might get the same results.
