as far as Roy's hat,Wayne,we all wear the same hat around here.it is town ordinance. :D

Yep, we passed that when I was mayor...

I can't complain...that 790 did a fine job with using the FEL (had the ballast box on the 3ph).
I saw an ad on Craigslist for a 5' blower and thought that would be nice. It's at Waltmeyer's on Rt 24 south of Red Lion. Doesn't matter though...snow's all cleared on the drive, Rt 24 is closed anyway and I'm done for the day.

And jdboy...get those tires filled. It sure helps with stability on slopes. You'll still want substantial ballast on the 3ph when using the loader, but when you operate on a slope, weighted tires keep the shiny side up.
I think we'll both be in the market for chains very soon!

What concerned me was having to start the 60" mmm and the vacuum weighted flywheel at the same time. It wouldn't do it at an idle and the strain put on those internal gears with some rpm would make a repair man smile. I don't believe in testing the limits. From past experience I know the cost of bearings and gears. Especially if they are " John Deere only parts ".
Got some time to re move the existing snow we have today. Making work is so much fun ! The loader is such a neat attachment. I didn't think it would be as maneuverable and useful on such a light tractor.

I don't know if you can do this with your tractor, but when I engage the PTO with my 60" cutter, the engine is at idle (say about 1000 RPMs) and I use the foot throttle to "blip" the RPMs if it starts to stall.
Once the cutter is moving at a lower speed, I increase RPMs with the hand throttle (to PTO speed), then engage the transmission. My 790 has a 2-stage clutch, so I can feather the engagement.

Roy,the 790 is still a manual type set up with the PTO,mine is the Ehydro unit and there is a switch to engage the PTO,done by electric, that is why they are saying it is hard on the shear pins, cause it engages instantly instead of being able to engage it slowly with a manual clutch.i seen a 72" blower on CL in Red Lion for sale.if you buy that one i will be glad to trade my 60" to you for the 72,i can handle the 6 footer with my machine, the guy was asking a good price for it too.less than what i paid for my 5'.i drove down to jarrettsville,md to pick mine up on monday.it really does the job,and you don't have huge piles of snow piled up everywhere.

You are worrying to much.

Besides my chipper, I also have had the MMM and the PTO Trac-Vac on in the fall...start it just fine.

Like I described above: You pull the PTO switch (I use my left hand) and then goose the throttle lever (right hand) to keep the engine from stalling. I have faith it will hold up.

Was on Craigslist for $500 a while ago? I was tempted to get that. If so I think you got a great deal.
