Hey all. First, those that saw my tractor (YM276D) for sale on Ebay, I didn't sell it and thankfully, my wife and I have resolved our issues and for the time being at least, have decided against a divorce. Well, the question I have is, today I was hard at work (ya right) clearing my lot and the transmission popped out of gear. I had it in low (1st gear both shifters, not creeper) and came to a stop to turn around, when I moved the shift lever into reverse, nothing happened. I found that the shifter on top of the trans was is neutral. This is the first time this has happened. I know I didn't hit it with my foot or anything, so is this something that is an indicator of an upcoming problem?

Thanks all!

I guess no one has had this happen to them, that's a good thing. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif It happened again yesterday, twice. Hope this is not a big problem on the horizon. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I have not had this happen... I don't know what it might be!! Just check everything you can get to for tightness....missing parts etc...

I'm a little confused...your tractor is not a power shift, or it is and the shifter lever is just not on the colum but on the tranny hump inbetween your legs?

If it is a power shift have your checked the linkage the gears are all in a straight line on the lever that sticks out of the tranny but the linkage may need a tweaking"

Side bar: It took me two days to figure out the reasion I couldn't get my shifting to hit all the gears when I put my tractor back together...and it turned out I had one of my linkage's bolted on the top and it was sposta be on the bottom....two days!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Mine did that a time or two when I first got it, 4 years ago; however, I just put it back in gear and got on with my life, figuring I probably just kicked it. If it were to continue doing it I would pull the cover and look for a bent shift yoke or worn retainers.

The good thing is that you & your Mrs. got your problems resolved for the moment.
And you're still a tractor man ! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It has a shifter on the trans that say's 1, 2, 3, and, C. Then on the steering column, there is another shifter that says, 1, 2, 3, and R. It's the one on the trans that has been popping out of gear. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Thanks for the info, if it happens again, I'll pull the cover.
