Loader Popping sound

Lately, when I dig into a pile of something heavy, or a dirt slope laced with roots, with the loader bucket, I sometimes hear a metallic pop when curling the bucket up. It's almost as if a rock rolled back to hit the back of the bucket, but I don't have rocks in the bucket. Any ideas? Something to worry about? My tractor is a Kubota BX25D with over 1300 hours.

it could be a sign of a broken bolt. check all your loader and wheel bolts and re-torque. inspect your loader pins.

As mikester said also if you have bushings check on the condition.

Also if you have an SSQA bucket check that the pins are in proper contact and that there are no gaps between the SSQA and bucket mounting faces especially on the bottom 45* angled piece. A gap there could allow you bucket to lift under pressure with a bang and eventually may come detached.

Have you been greasing the loader every 8 to 10 hours of use.....

When greasing the loader be sure to grease the bucket level indicator if needed. Early on my loader started making some noise. I finally figured out it was the rod sliding inside the tube so I greased the rod and the noise went away.

Sure sounds like something is broken, like a pin or bolt. Maybe a worn bushing that has some slop.

If you can, have someone operate the FEL while you look and listen. Getting a better angle could help you identify where this knocking noise is coming from. Just dont touch anything or get under anything while someone is sitting in that seat.

Thank you, gentlemen. It's a pin-on bucket. I am reminded that about a year ago, the pin on the right side sheared off, and half of it disappeared somewhere. I will check all the pins and bolts when I get back to the tractor this weekend. I have been pretty religious about greasing. I also was wondering whether it might be something in one of the cylinders. I will report back!

It could be air in the bucket cylinders causing a diesel pop from the fluid vapors - yeah that's a thing. One way to check is to try and move the bucket by hand. If the cylinders have any play, they have air in them and you need to purge it by moving the bucket through it's full range of motion.

Dry metal rubbing on dry bushing might cause such a noise.
Might be as simple as a clogged zerk.
Are they all 'oozing' grease when you lube the zerks?

Broken pin, bolt, crack in something somewhere letting the metal move past itself making a 'pop' like noise

I tried following these kind suggestions, but still haven't found the cause. I regreased carefully, also, but the noise still occurs occasionally. Sooner or later, the light bulb will come on.

Pick warm day not much to do,start from the front slowly looking for wear marks and tighten points as you go.
