True story about the hot water: It was maybe 1980 and my parent's bought a small town café with a bar. It had two ice machines that could barely keep up forcing my dad to buy bags of ice on busy hot days. One day he traces out the ice machine water lines and they were tapped into the hot water line. So he goes to the local mom and pop hardware store to get some fittings to change it. Hardware store owner says what ya workin' on? My dad explains and the store owner comes back with "Oh you know hot water freezes faster...blah blah" Dad finally says just get me the parts. Two weeks later he had way more ice than he you could use and sold the second machine.
Dad suspected the hardware store owner had advised the original café owner on the ice machine hookup. I think dad really enjoyed that restaurant but never anticipated the questionable help hired or putting in 12 hour days so after about a year they sold it.
