Hi Scotty, just wondering if you are starting to see color up there yet? We were at camp the week of September 6, temps were in the 40's in the morning and it is just starting to change color. I am sure by the end of the month it will be full color.

Good Mornin Wayne,
Good to hear from you buddy ! Actually when I was there about 1 1/2 weeks ago there was a slight tinge of color up in the hills ! For us its usually peak about Oct 10th or therabouts depending on the temps and rainfall etc !

IMO we havent had a spectacular season since the fall of 2002 !

So Im holding out hope for a real good year ! As you know, when its good it can be spectacular, almost like the hills are on fire, so we shall see ! ;):)

Scotty, I've only been in New England once. We picked up my wife's parents in the southern tip of West Virginia in the Fall of 1991, and took them on a fast trip to Niagara Falls, then over into New England, then south to North Carolina. So we were just in Vermont on October 18 & 19, 1991. Now it was beautiful country and a good trip, but for the Fall colors, we were a bit late that year. The brightest colors were back down in Virginia and West Virginia.:D

Scotty, around here we will see good color around the end of September and it will peak around the 10th of October. As for the color they are all talking around here (TV People) that it will be good color because of all the rain. As far as I am concerned I am with you and not holding out for great color.

Up north we see color now and it will peak around the end of the month. But, once the leaves fall it is a very short period of time and the signs of winter show up. We plan on keeping the camp open until November this year, but in the past we were hit with snow at closing down time and that is not fun.

By the way your grand-doggie is really getting big!~

Gee, thanks for the great memory. As a city boy who was court ordered to work on a farm I can still see the wife sweeping the front yard. The house sat a couple of hundred feet from the road and she would sweep the front porch and then a path out to the street and back. Those were some of the best days I had growing up. I still remember that this farm was 50 miles north of Boston and the farmer had been to Boston once. He was in his 70's at the time. We were all "made" to go to church and of course Sunday dinner. Well like I said - thanks for the memory. This was in the early 60's.

Good Afternoon Bird,
Yep I would say you just missed it that year ! The trick to good foliage is to not have any kind of rain or wind event close to the peak. More than once the foliage was really looking good only to have it ruined by the weather ! :(
