Portable Fuel Barrels

Also have the 50 gallon square tank, put it on a furniture dolly after unloading with the BX and roll it into the garage. Have GPI diaphragm pump with a bowl style fuel filter.

Curious why you can't just have the same supplier deliver to a tank where you need it tied to your Father's account?

Dad lives about 90 miles south of me so the same supplier is too far too deliver. And even if I was closer, the delivery fee on 50 gallons would not be worth it.

I have done that with a 50 gallon plastic barrel and hand pump. I would slide it from the truck bed into the loader bucket and secure it with straps. A bit of work, but it can be done.

If you use a metal drum, Northern Tools sells several different drum lifters
Northern Industrial Drum Lifter | Drum Pullers, Rotators Stackers| Northern Tool + Equipment
and
Northern Industrial Drum Puller - 1100-Lb. Capacity, Vertical, Model# 2606S003 | Drum Pullers, Rotators Stackers| Northern Tool + Equipment
among other more expensive options and I would probably go with something like one of those..

Pick up tractor trailer fuel tanks and make a sling for it. Use tracker fel hooks to move. Be sure you pick up the ones that has flat bottoms, not the round tanks.

Here is a picture of my fuel barrel. The pump is 12V powered from trailer outlet mounted on the tractor. I also added a filter that is able to separate water but so far (in five years) no water was found in the fuel. There are chains attached to platform under the barrel that I can hook up to FEL and move it from the trailer I use to transport it.

I've been coming down about one a month and filling up two 5 gal tanks.
Here's what I made up. Its a 15 gallon drum from a carwash. It had contained soap concentrate so it washed out easily with my pressure washer. At this size, its easy to rassle it out of the trailer when filled. Also a 20 gallon size shouldn't be too bad to handle by hand. At a half gallon per hour fuel usage when working, or far less idling for backhoe work, this lasts a long time.

The pump is from HF and is dual action - turn backward to empty the tractor's tank for repairs, or to take some fuel for the other tractor when I'm too busy for a run to town.

The brass fitting slipped over the end of the hose is ballast so the hose won't jump around. And the end of the hose slips into that fitting on the tank to keep it clean between refuelings. I remove the pump and cap the tank when I go for fuel.

While I like the overall setup Cali has , I'm really liking the turn-backwards for suction aspect of that pump......

Murphy really seems to rule when it comes to fuel related problems...... they mostly seem to happen with a nearly full tank

I'm planning on buying one of the transfer tanks that TSC or all sorts of other suppliers sell. I'm looking for about 100 gallons and I'll make it so it can go on a skid of some sort and bolt or latch down in my trailer bed pretty easily so it's a "permanent" install when I'm on the road. I can take my trailer to the gas station and fill up with off-road diesel and then bring it home and unload it. I agree that the plastic barrel setup works great for diesel, but I don't want to get caught by the police transporting 110 gallons of diesel in an unapproved, unacceptably secured container. In the past, I have stored diesel in one of the 275 gallon plastic totes in the metal cages with great success.

I just walk my 55 Gallon barrels of whatever onto my tailgate and international my FEL bucket then put a ratchet strap around them and ower. Not hard to do. I'm only 5 10 and 165 and can move them with ease.
