portable saw mill trailer

here is my new saw mill trailer . it is made from a old fork lift mast :thumbsup:
because of its sold frame it can cut wood with like a laser. i also made the wheels removable



easy loading

Im confused I have never seen a twentyfoot first stage forklift mast , I dont see the point of super beefing half of the saw rails .

the mast was three stage warehouse fork lift with 17ft per stage and the rest of the rail is supported with angle iron. the last picture snuck in it is a dead race car i saved the roll cage for the next victim of the track:laughing:

i see so the part of the track that isnt that beefy is basicly used to support the mill head and because of the hudson four post design the beef supports the log , I went the other way and built light track with six removable jacks , I use my loader trailer to lift the mill head off , then load the carriage ont the trailer then set the mill head on.

Junco, Could you tell me about your sawmill head. Brand, hp, price, where purchased, etc ?
I've been thinking about making my own bed for a sawmill also.

it is a hudson out of ny state it has a 6.5hp 18 in cut it was off ebay as a xs inventory for 2000.00 dcnd. the trailer was cheapdew to fact i got the mast for free and had a axle
just make sure you have a good frame for good cut it dosn t take much to make a poor cut. just ask if you have any more questions

That sure is a rugged looking rig and the Hudson mill came from about 20 miles from where I live. For those not fortunate enough to run across a forklift mast, I used an old truck frame for my old circular Belsaw mill. Just hooked up a tongue to the tie rod like a hay wagon and dragged it all over the countryside.

that is good to hear storys of inovention and foresite .i still have two more section of the fork lift one i want to build for sale and the bigger one i am going to build the next size of saw 34 in and place this one way up north to cut lumber for cottagers

Can't send a photo of mine. Sold it about 25 years ago. It was simple though, just an old 6 wheel box truck frame about 25 ft long, tracks mounted on PT 4x4's and tongue on front.
