Porter Cable Framing Nailer repair question

Glad you have it repaired and working properly. You're doing it right.
Air tool oil is often ignored in favor of using motor oil, and the result is deteriorated O-rings and seals. I have nail guns that use small canisters of compressed gas that's fed into a combustion chamber, the gas explodes and drives a nail. Those are kinda hard to work on, so I have a professional repair shop do those.
My compressed air nail guns are easy to repair myself.

Which is the crux of my point.
And, your description of your issue was vague at best and nowhere did you state what you did to the tool or how you maintained it other than making a snarky comment to my post.

I performed repair on same model nailer. After many years the plastic diaphragm fails regardless how much oiling is performed.

"The Rest of the Story"

Ordered a rebuild kit. Arrived today. I already had the lid off the nailgun. Having never done this before, took me probably 15 minutes to pop the cylinder out, FIND the silly seal (that hides with the color of the cylinder), find the gasket INSIDE the circumference of one of the parts....

Given that this has always been well oiled, it was a bit of an oily mess.... no worries, just used a rag to 'dry' my hands.

Got all the gaskets replaced, put together, put a bit of a stream of oil in it since most of what had been in there is now gone. (kit came with some lubricant which was also used)

Slapped a couple nails, attached to air hose and it's driving nails like the bit** it is!!!

It really was supremely simple and easy. Kit came with replacement trigger but I didn't want to fool with it, so might just leave it be since it works fine.

glad you got it repaired. i dont use my nail guns as much as i used do when in construction. i occasionally get them all out and oil them and shoot a few nails. hopefully they will work when called upon in the future.
