I'm starting to look into putting a hydraulic accessory connection/valve onto my YM-186D (probably for a hydraulic toplink initially). I have basically no experience with hydraulic systems, but am ready to learn.

Saw the webpage from Hoye (Remote hydraulic install on a Yanmar) about doing this by cutting a hydraulic line to install an open-center valve, and also saw their adaptors that let you do it without cutting a line (Yanmar Tractor Parts: HYDRAULIC ADAPTER - ADD A LOADER / LOG SPLITTER).

But i wanted to first understand exactly what i've currently got on my tractor, to make sure accessory connections (plugged with bolts?) have not already been installed by a previous owner.
In the attached photo "steel block", there is a part that does not appear in my parts manual diagram for the hydraulic system (and which i therefore thought might be an add-on by a previous owner): its the rectangular steel block with 2 large bolt heads on top and one on the side. This block also has what i gather to be a main steel hydraulic line coming out of the front of it, which runs toward the front of the tractor. (It looks like this line might be the same line cut for installation of the valve in their webpage photo?).

My first question: Is the steel block in fact an outlet(s) for hydraulic connectors/valve(s)?

2nd question: If it is, which bolt/orifices (2 on top, 1 on side) do I use for the connectors, what kind of valve to use with this (open center or something else)?

It seems like the Hoye system requires that the open center valve takes all the flow in the line through it (and interrupt the flow in the line when the lever is pushed/pulled). But if the steel block on my tractor is simply several outlets for hydraulic fluid, then i guess opening a valve would not interrupt the flow in the line? Would i use one of the bolt/orifices for the input to the valve, and the other for the output?

3rd question: In the parts manual i have, it shows a " Hydraulic Adaptor-- (optional parts) " that can replace the existing bolt/plug on the opposite side of the tractor from the steel block (my 2nd attached photo shows this bolt/plug). It seems like yanmar intended this side to be the place for accessory hydraulics-- is this the port i should use as input for an accessory valve, and if so, where should the output from the valve be plumbed?

Any help would be appreciated!

I don't know why the block doesn't show on your parts manual as it does on the on line pdf parts manual on figure 55. It does not have a reference number. The bolt on top of it is joint bolt and holds the block to the control valve and allows the high pressure fluid to come through. After that I can only speculate. My guess is if you pull the other two plugs there will a place a plug can be put in that will then make those two openings available for an optional outlet and inlet. You would have to have open center.

I believe the plug on the opposite side is to be used for a single acting cylinder and controlled by the 3 point lift handle. I have my 2002d plumbed with that opening or at least similiar opening and use it with a single acting cylinder on a 3 point cement mixer. I think I have put drawings on here before or instructions out of a 220/226 manual. Not many people going to be interested in using the single acting cylinder but I will look it up if you need.

The block information is just an opinion so don't go borrow any money on it. :D

Here's an old thread that contains the same discussion that this thread will evolve into: :D
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/yanmar/221299-loader-plumbing.html

In summary the US Yanmars already have the divider block, you just need to move some internal plugs around to use it. I'm not sure anyone has posted clear instructions for this.

Thanks guys I got it figured out now--instructions were right in the operators manual, pg38-39 (never knew it was in there, and my parts manual doesn't show the divider block at all).

One important thing I noted though: that internal plug that you install must be removed again if you ever take the external valve off (or if you do something like putting quick disconnects on the divider block and then remove the hoses). If the internal plug is not removed under these conditions, the manual says it will destroy the pump.

Thanks for the info, I had wondered about it too. I just checked my 1977 ym240 and it has a divider block just like page 41 in the operation manual.

Your plugs are in the control valve section. Picture is of my ym2002d, I believe it is just like your 220d. The looped hose will be where your in and out go. My loader was installed by cutting the high pressure tubing going back to the 3 point. I believe the way your are wanting to do it will be the correct way. The scan is out of the 220/226 manual. scan0003.jpg100_4959.JPG

The "C" port is the last picture. This is where your return from your loader valve will go. The "B" port is where the power beyond from your loader valve will go. "A" port is where you go to your loader inlet valve. Make sense?

thanks Winston1 that will help. I noticed before that there are some fittings there but I simply disregarded them. As soon as I can make some brackets to mount the loader I can start plumbing it up.
