I just always figured the best reason the suction port is at the bottom of the tank is because that's where gravity pulls the fluid. Wouldn't work too well if the suction port was at the top of the tank. :confused2:

Oh I got ya now....yea my respond was a liitle weird, now when I look at it with "open eyes".....:(.....of course gravity is the main reason.... I got little distracted of that he asked for a reason suction near bottom....:confused2:
oh well.....I'll eat more Curry, to prevent Alzheimer from hitting me any more.....:D....

Actually, if possible you should keep suction lines 1 diameter above the tank floor and away from the sides. First, it helps keep the water and debris from getting in because they should settle to the bottom. And two, it helps with the flow dynamics. If the port is right against the floor it is just like blocking 20% of the inlet at high flow.
