possibly buying a grey mrkt yanmar...need advice

I'm looking at a yanmar for sale for 4k. The homeowner doesn't know the model number, but does know it's a 2 cylinder diesel. Which I from looking at hoye Web page limits it to the ym 1100, 1300, 1500, 1700, 2000, or 2210? It looks larger than the two smaller models, but I'm only going from picture comparisons (I know not very reliable). It has a front end loader but is a 2 wheel drive, (from what i understand has mixed revues) Though it has 4 wheel drive tires on the front. He says the steering pulls a little bit to one side but that's the only issue. I should of asked more questions but failed too. It doesn't have rops, and I don't know if it's a refurbished model, or a good ol used tractor. And honestly I don't know if the nice old guy would know either. Before I go further on this tractor, does it remotely seem like a good deal? Obviously there are alot of unknowns I left out of the equation to help. I would primarily be using it to brush ho 4.5 acres, blading about 1/8 -1/4 mile driveway, and the occasional light loader work. I'm on flat land. Any input would help

Look on the engine left side sitting in the seat. Should a plate with the #. A YM2000 is 2TR20 which I have a A-A ? to the day. And wow the loader is worth half of that price alone..IMO.

I believe to see the Air cleaner on the side of the motor so that would be a YM1500 if so. That's high end IMO.. Look on CL. in different city's and get a Idea of what there going for then add for the loader. What ever it is looks to be in good shape. See what I mean a little high. With 4wd. and that is if that other one is even a 1500 could be a 1300. Which has the same air cleaner come to think about it and maybe even smaller.

They are both in my area. Tractor Bob's is closer (about a 30 min drive) the other more like 11/2 hr drive. I definitely need to look into these some more. Does the fact that the 1500 at tractor Bob's has the rops and the same fel I think I see at all dealers mean it's a refurbished unit. And the other isn't? I get confused on which is better.

On a tractor that light, 4wd is a major advantage. Those are relatively tall and narrow so the ROPS is a valuable feature.

I expect they are both refurbs. 40 year old tractors generally don't look that clean. So both have similar (slight) chance you would need to repair something back to spec. If the dealer offers any sort of warranty that's an advantage in addition to the 4wd.

I think there is a thousand dollar difference between them but both figures are top dollar for what they are. If you can't find anything better/cheaper in a reasonable time, either YM1500 is a reasonable choice for your application. A YM1700 or YM2000 would cost the same, if you think you need something larger that takes wider implements.

4K & the owner doesnt know what it is?? How did he come up w/ that price then??
Seems steep to me..
You can get a Ford w/ implements for that money.. & the machine at BOB's looks promising..??
