So I have eradicated about 4 possum from my 10 acres in the last few weeks. I get home yesterday and there is one out at 3:00 in the afternoon in my front yard. Thought that was odd he was out in the middle of the day. It was overcast and about 40 degrees. I introduced him to my 22 Gamo Pellet Gun which made quick work of him but what do you think? Was this guy rabid or what. Skunks seem to be on the move also. Might just be that time of year in Eastern Kansas. We still have some snow on the ground though.

you do realize they eat other pest around your home and are beneficial . if your not eating them why Kill something that is not doing anything wrong.

Who said I wasn't eating them? They carry diseases like no other so bye bye possum.

must be a sad life where your scared of a little possum . BTW you don't have to play with them or let them in the house

Skunk and possum breeding season, so they are on the move looking for love in all the wrong places.

Possums have never bothered me and I don't see them often. I shot one once 40+ years ago and it was carrying a dozen young on it's underside. I was pretty upset with myself over that so I never shot another one.

I am leery of raccoons but I don't mess with them if they are just passing through. We did have a rabid one in the neighborhood last year that attacked two different neighbors. I gave up having koi in our little pond because they push the perimeter stones in the pond when they are catching them to eat.

Armadillos will meet a certain death because they dig holes all over the yard. Creates a tripping hazard so it's me against them. When the holes start showing up I put batteries in the HF driveway sensor and put it out back to notify me when they come. I turn it off at bedtime so if they are smart they won't come around till later. :) They eventually get eradicated though.

ah, the ignoble possum.
I got excited when I read the title - my hometown has a "Possum Hollow"; I thought someone posted about that area.
I never find it humorous when I see a dead animal in the road. Except a few months ago - I came out of my driveway and there was a dead possum in the middle of the road. It was such a pathetic sight - upside down, legs in the air, tongue hanging out. I busted out laughing. The only thing missing was cartoon x's instead of eyes.

Seriously though, let em be.

No poss0ms here. Haven't had a coon, skunk or porcupine in the yard in over 15 years. Just about the same time I quit burning my garbage,

I may be too far north for possums because I can't remember seeing any in 15 years. We do have skunks & coons though. I'm of the mind that if you don't bother me, I wont bother you. We have a skunk in the back from time to time digging for grubs but we each keep our distance from one another.
Coons on the other hand will go after my hummingbird feeders and make a mess and break them. When one does that, I'll look for it for the next day or two and if it returns --- it's coon stew

Will they bother my Ducks and Chickens? And my Frog pond-if so time to start trapping or killing. I chased one at the duck coop away two nights ago with snowballs.
