While reading another post regarding PHDs, I got to wondering. Would a hydraulic PHD used on a skid loader, work on the NH loader with the Quck Attach option?

It seems to me that with a PTO powered PHD, if you get "locked" up on a rock or tree root, you'd have a heck of a time getting the auger back out.

You'd also gain much more height on the loader-mounted option, but I wouldn't be suprised if the hydraulics are too weak to power one.

I'm new to PHDs, so would appreciate hearing from those with more experience.

You could do it with a PTO hydraulic pump, but most of our compacts standard pumps have 10 gpm or less flow. I think most skid steer PHDs require 12 gpm minimum. If I already had the skid steer PHD and multiple needs for a PTO pump, it might be cost-effective. Otherwise it would probably be a lot cheaper and less hassle just buy a direct PTO powered PHD. If I had a problem with shock loads and broken shear pins, I think I'd look into a slip clutch for my PTO.
