You are doing this so you can save on the cost of a hydraulic?:confused3: You are going to have to do some serious engineering to get this to work without problems. This is not to say that it can not be done, but why bother? Before it's all said and done, you may very well end up spending $10 to save a buck. Buy the HDP kit, drill some holes and be happy. Good luck with your endeavor. ;)

Brian - how do I get a quote from you on a PHD hydraulic?

It is best to get a complete down pressure kit from the manufacturer of whatever brand of PHD it is that you have. If you are going to build something yourself, let me know what size hydraulic you want and I can get you a cost. Best to fill out the contact page on the Fit Rite website.;)

Thanks. I don't plan to build one so I will contact the dealer. I appreciate the information.

I just purchased a down pressure kit and getting ready to install it on my PHD. My question is how do the hydraulics connect to my 3rd SCV? I have two lines coming off of the cylinder with one connecting to my 3rd SCV. Where does the other line terminate? I can't quite tell from this picture. If anyone has photos of their installation connected that would be appreciated.

Keep in mind that you have a single acting hydraulic cylinder on the PHD. So the line to the cylinder is a pressure line and is connected to your rear remote. The line from the bypass valve is just a return line and that line needs to go directly to the reservoir. You may need to plumb in a return only port at the back of your tractor. ;)

If anyone has pictures of a similar installation I would really appreciate it.

From my 3rd SCV, there are two ports, would it matter which one I connect to? I had presumed that the this single acting hydraulic would connect to both.

The down pressure system is designed to allow the fluid to by-pass and return to the tank whenever the PHD is raised. Any time that the PHD is raised, the down pressure hydraulic is collapsed. If you hook both of the hoses to your std rear remote, that return fluid is blocked. You raise your 3pt hitch, the down pressure cylinder does not collapse because there is no place for the fluid to go to, BAD THINGS HAPPEN, COSTLY BAD THINGS.

The return hose HAS to be connected to an open return port. ;)

You can connect the pressure feed line to either port.

By the time you fiddle around if you count the time and money. You will be farther ahead and have something much better to work with . If you sell your existing PHD and purchase a hydraulic driven unit that mounts on the loader bucket.

How do I determine where to connect the return line to, specific location? What would this look like?
