Motivated by zuiko's quest for a wooden PHD stand (Post Hole Digger Stand thread, this forum), I decided to embark on an "upgrade" of my current wooden storage unit. Here's a pic of what I've been using for a while.

3PH mounting and removal is a pain.

Many interesting designs in zuiko's thread were an inspiration.
This is what I built yesterday.
How many of you have noticed it's getting dark early these days? These pictures were taken in twilight this evening. Sorry about the dark pictures.

Now, a couple views of the auger end of the stand.

A semi-circle cut in the top plate allows the gear box to rest on the plate. My PHD has a 1/2" flange that works well to support auger end of the PHD. A velcro ended nylon strap keeps the gearbox from slipping forward.

This type storage unit (like many in zuiko's thread) allows easy 3PH hook-up and removal.

Once again, sorry about the dark pictures.
