Tractor
Kubota BX 1500
I recently bought a Kubota BX1500, I love the tractor, it has been able to do everything I need it to do so far. What I'm looking to do now is find a post hole digger for it, I found a Speeco for 348.00 plus an auger, but I don't know if it fits on my tractor, I also found a Land Pride for 1050.00 with a auger that does fit my tractor, I was wondering if anybody out there has the same tractor that I do and if they do, do they have a post hole digger what kind they have, if they like it and roughly the cost of it. Thank you, Tony

I am only going by past posts, but the BX can handle a post hole digger if you purchase the shorter augers that are designed for it. Depending on the type of material you will be digging in, will depend on how satisfied you will be with the results. Being that it only has a 15 HP engine, and the PTO HP is lower than 15, just don't expect too much from it. Do a search for "post hole digger" in this and other forums and do all the reading before purchasing a unit to help determine the advisability for your soil type. Here in CT, we have more rocks than soil, so for the most part, a small tractor mounted PHD isn't going to work well most of the time. I dug a hole today, and got more rocks out of that hole than I got dirt. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I purchased a PHD from TSC last year and so far it has worked great. I augered over 100 holes with it. I busted quite a few shear pins but thats what they are for.

John............ your Jinma probably weighs about twice what the BX1500 weighs and the front tire is larger than the BX rear tire. Your three point hitch is probably higher when it is down, than the BX when it is up. Other than that, I guess that you could say that the Jinma is equal to the BX in all other comparisons.... LOL.. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hello, I have a Speeco PHD and a BX2200, I did have to modify the design a little to make it work. Bad news it cost about $50 for welding- Good news, I can use full length augers and still have about 6" of clearance at the tip when transporting. Seems to be a good unit, I bought the 9" heavy duty auger. Gearbox is great but I have bent the cutters many times and broke one tip off the auger once. I have drilled about 300-500 holes with little problems.

could you post some pictures of the PHD along with the welding modifications that you have made? This will go a long way to helping others to do the same "adjustment".... thanks

TPierre,

I bought a PHD from Vassar Farm Equipment - - I used them because I emailed customer service at Kubota & asked where I could find a PHD to use on my BX22. They recommended Vassar.

Here's what I received from Vassar back in February - - - I'm pretty sure the prices have changed - - this was last February.
"The Vassar Estate II digger is the one featured on Kubota's literature. It comes in a 6", 9" or 12" size auger. The most popular is the 9". The 6" retails for $549.00, the 9" is $565.00 and the 12" is $589.00. Shipping business to business would be approximately $80.00. If you order one, tell us it is for a Kubota and we will paint it orange. Thank you for your interest. Our toll free # is 877-229-8049 The Vassar Co."

Good luck.

Well Junkman I feel stupid now. I didn't realize the size of the tractor we were dealing with I thought they were asking how good they worked.. Not what they would fit.......... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I will take some pictures and post later today. Basically I had a secondary mount welded onto the boom below the three holes that are drilled from the factory. this gives a lower mounting point, which raises the boom. It sounds more difficult than it is, unfortunately, I don't own a welder.
