I have a middle buster (potato plow) I can't seem to get the point down into the ground far enough to do anything. I bought it to put ditches in. When I let it down it is kind of flat on the ground not at a angle. I thought that the top link is to long has any one had this happen to them. I have a fp25hp 4x4.
the top link that I have came with the tractor.

Shorten the top link or buy a shorter one.

Ditto what PSj12 said.

Also.. post a pic of your setup if in doubt about getting it all working.

I have it as short as I can get it---18 inches whole to whole? I guess I will buy a shorter one.. It always helps getting a few people to confirm what you think? Thanks all.......

Post a picture... You should be able to start with the main shank on the unit vertical with the ripper tooth or plow blade on the lower end of the shank going down and forward at a 45-60 degree angle. IF the main shank is not vertical, you probably need a different(shorter)top link.

next time timwil asks to see if he is right I am going to ask is this a joke I thought maybe something was wrong with the arms on the tractor or the top link. I thought this was why they have this discussion board? I have seen a lot worse on this an others. Sorry guys for taking up this space....

Hey young2...

Hope you're still with us. I don't know what prompted the "is this a joke" comment. That kind of rude comment is very unusual on this forum. Your question is quite reasonable. It's not unusual for someone to get a new implement and have trouble making it behave the way it's supposed to.

When someone asks a question, any question, and others supply answers or suggestions, those posts are archived and that useful information can be found by others for years to come.

And I agree, I see many more rude or provoking comments on other boards. This is one of the most polite boards I've seen.

So please stay on board, ask your questions, and provide some answers if you've got 'em. And ignore the occasional inconsiderate posts from those who were born knowing everything.
