Potential Danuser Auger Purchase

Once you use hydraulicly driven auger mounted on a front end loader bucket. You won't want to go back to a three point hitch, pto unit.

Not sure you can buy one of those for $500?

Just saying that both are better than a shovel. However in stoney ground or around roots . You will find the $$$ for the upgrade after using a loader mount hydraulic unit. Instead of using a pto three point hitch unit.

Lol. There is always bigger and better. That's why I said this is the best "in-class" auger. As mentioned, Yes, a bucket mount would be better as it has down pressure etc.

With the price difference, its really not worth it unless going into business drilling holes. Unless you have tons of holes to drill, at the cost of the upgrade you mind as well just hire someone else to come do the holes and it would be cheaper AND easier. He got a great deal for his setup.

As for my experience, I've drilled through hard packed dry clay that typically requires a pick ax to bust. With hat sad I am not familiar with other hard packed soils in other areas. (Rocky etc).

The choice of auger cutting edge is probably the most vital factor of all. This auger bit made a whole new machine out of my digger. Cast Auger 1" x 48" w/ 2" Round | Danuser

that price is not at all unreasonable but last year I wanted a post hole digger and saw 1(Danuser 12in) for 250 on CL and he took 200. when I got home with it I looked again and saw another 1 (Danuser 9in) for 225. I almost bought it too but decided I didn't need to get crazy. I sent the serial number to Danuser and the Danuser family member that runs the company now (I forget his name at this time) actually responded by sending me information about when it was made and where it a was sold along with the manual.
You can't beat a Danuser. it still works great. you can get any parts you might need to keep it running great. you won't regret getting it. new tip and cutting edge are easy to replace if you want it to cut like new if the ones on yours are worn out.

That's awesome! I would have picked it up too so I could refresh it then pass it on to someone who truly appreciates the old, we'll built stuff. That is, if I had the money. I agree that even at the price I paid it's a good deal. I actually feel much better about paying what I did for it because I feel like the guy might have needed the money.

I will give the fine people at Danuser a call when I get a chance, so I can find out some more info in this unit.

Please post up a picture of your if you have a chance. Take care.
