How many have had experience with a Poulan Pro front wheel drive self-propelled Mower?

I would like to hear about the weak spots on them .

Especially about the bearings on the rear high wheel models. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I have one with A Honda 5 hp motor, got it used and cheap /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I know nothing about their mowers, except that when shopping for a riding mower, I looked at some of the Poulans and was quite unimpressed; "looked" cheap and weak. However, I've owned two Poulan chainsaws and was very happy with both of them.

Me too Bird,
I have a couple of Poulan Chain Saws and a 15 year old Weed Eater ( Poulan) string trimmer that is still going strong. I have no complaints with Poulan stuff. I would not use their consumer stuff for professional heavy use though, they are for home owner type use.

They could be better engineered for sure.

The bearings in question cannot be obtained individually(You have to buy the wheels with the bearings in it for a mere $30.39 each) I bought this one just for use around the house , It does a great job , but the engineering side lacks Quality in My opinion.

I bought one this year to use for trimming around the edges at the house and along the fenceline before climbing on the B2400. Until then I had always used a DR Brush Cutter with a mower deck. It seems to be OK but a little underpowered considering what I was used to. The quality is moderate, I don't think it will last for 20 years, but it is sufficient for what it is used for. Personally, I don't like the front wheel drive as much as rear wheel drive. I find it less useful when going up hills and inclines but that could just my unfamiliarity with the machine.
Like a couple of others have said, I have used a Poulan chain saw for years and never had any real trouble with it. It has been really beat up over time but I just replace the broken and worn parts and it keeps on running. I've been waiting for it to "die" permanently so I can replace it with a Stihl but I'm starting to think that the best thing to do may be to get another Poulan and just run it to death.

I have a relatively flat lot and actually have mowed the whole thing with this mower 3 times already.

I primarily bought it cheap as it had been used very little.

I loved the Honda Commercial self-propelled models but they are way too steep for no more than I will use one.

I have a twenty year old Lawn Boy that still runs fine and probably will the rest of my days ,the same probably will be true for this Honda Engine.
