scesnick said:I built a new pole garage recently 30x40 and I also got a new concrete mixer for a smaller stone veneer project. I need a floor in my garage still and I was wondering if anyone here has poured their own floor with just a 8 cubic Ft. mixer?
I realize it is a big job but why can't I just pour sections ? I am really in no hurry at all. Any opinion is welcomed. I am just thinking out loud here and will most likely just bite the bullet and pay the $2,500 and have someone pour it for me.
In June05 I had a concrete slab poured for a 24'x42' steel pole garage/shop. The slab is 6" thick, 3000 psi concrete, Visqueen plastic vapor barrier, #4 (1/2") rebar criss-crossed on 24" centers, grooved on 10 ft centers. Cost: $7500. Only two small checks (surface cracks) each about 4 ft long.
You get what you pay for. Doing it by the sack, you're going to work your rear end off and very likely not be satisfied with the result.
Pouring a slab in sections might be OK for a patio. Not OK for a garage floor that has to support heavy loads.
